Non U.S. citizens are welcome to apply for the East Asia program. Students enrolled at universities and colleges other than Georgia Tech are also welcome to apply for the program, although it will be necessary for them to enroll as a “transient” student at Georgia Tech --- a process separate from the process of applying for the East Asia program. In other words, non-Georgia Tech students will need to apply for the East Asia program, and, separately, apply for admission to Georgia Tech as a “transient” student. The latter is not a cumbersome process and will be accomplished on-line from Seoul, Korea during the regular “Phase II registration period” for Georgia Tech --- between 8 and 16 May 2008.

Depending on their nationality, non-U.S. students may need to procure visas unnecessary for U.S. citizens (e.g., for Japan, South Korea and Taiwan).

Non Atlanta-area students should also understand that they will need to fly to Atlanta for several days intense days of class on the Georgia Tech campus starting on Saturday, 5 May, prior to the beginning of the East Asian component of the program.  The program director will assist these non-Atlanta-area students find very reasonable accommodation, but such students should understand that they will incur some additional expenses.
